Phillip Gordon, better known as Yott is a Songwriter / Rapper from St. Petersburg, FL by way of Bridgeport, CT. As a child of multi cultural parents, Yott was exposed to many types of music as a child, from Reggae and Hip Hop to Spanish. At the young age of 6, Yott had his first taste of entertaining. At summer camp he performed Montell Jordan’s “This is how we do it”, Yott recalls: “I had background dancers all dressed in white and I had on a black leather jacket,my initial reaction was anxiety, but when the music came on I was turned up.
Yott began writing his own rhymes at the age of 12, influenced by his uncle who also rapped, and inspired by artist like Biggie, Big L, Jeezy , Nas ,Big Pun, 50 Cent, Trick Daddy, Brisco and Montell Jordan. With time, he developed his own style which can be described as honest, fun and easy to relate to. Yott is most comfortable on stage where he feeds from the crowds’ response. His most memorable performance was opening for Young Dro, Baby Brisco and Currensy. Currently Yott is signed to Benton Records where he is focused on releasing various club friendly singles. When asked about the future, Yott simply replied “I just want to reap the benefits of my labor and be able to support my family from doing what I love: Music”
